Ipretty much know almost nothing about computers excepthow to email people and look at websites. Now we get tomake one...scary. Hope I can learn how to do it. Ireally love listening to music. Some of my favoritebands are JimmyEatWorld, Deftones, Incubus. I listen tolots of different things and love to hear newgroups/bands that people are excited about. I also loveto read. I also love to discover new, interesting books.I mostly prefer fiction to nonfiction. I guess I've saida mouthful. Now I'll see what everyone else has to say.

This is the last in my series of English classes atSanta Fe. This class offered more than the usual"stuffy" classroom experience so it naturally appealedto me. As much of school is about that strict linearadherence, it is refreshing that one can step back andobserve the bigger picture.

Hey guys, I'm Natalie Peters... I am a Journalism/Communications major in my fourth semester, but only mysecond semester at SFCC. I plan to transfer into UF'sSchool of Journalism in the Spring of 2004. This is myfirst Honors course, along with my American History 2020class. I get the "guinea pig" feeling about this class... Ithink we will get to mold it as we deem appropriatethroughout the semester. I know I can handle my ownabout computers and webpages, but I'm definetly not apro. It's easy to tell that this will not be an'average' class of any sorts; it breaks the mold of the30 kids sitting in a class writing 5 paragraph essays onPlato. (If that is in the near future... my bad!!) I hope to take the information from this class and useit in my field of study later down the road. I'm apublished writer, and I enjoy learning new aspects ofanything to do with the communications world. FYI-- I can't spell to save my life and this thingdoesn't have spell check!! ;)

Hi, My name is Anne Baatstad, and I'm allergic to ice cream.Ha, no I really am. :-) I'm really excited about takingthis class, it's my first honors course at SFCC and sofar I'm sure that I'm going to enjoy the work that wedo. I really like that we're being encouraged tointeract with our classmates more that we normally wouldin a standard ENC course. Well, it seems like everyoneis writing a little about themselves and where they'refrom, so here's a bit about me: I'm from DeLand, FL andfor those of you who aren't familiar with littleredneck-river towns, it's about 30 minutes outside ofDaytona Beach - 15 minutes if you're really good. Ithink for a project we should do a class trip to theecosystems of Daytona Beach to study the effects of sunand the pigmentation of our skin - preferably during theweek commonly known as "Spring Break". For extra credit, bring lots of beads and a video camera. J/K :-) I'm 18and have lived in FL all my life but have been luckyenough to travel most of the western hempishere and alittle bit of Scandinavia and the U.K. My dad came tothe U.S. from Norway to raise my sisters and I (I'm atriplet)with my mom, who refused to go to Norway. Heleft his family and all that he had known to move to theU.S. and work on cruise ships. I see my dad about 4months out of the year and even less now that I'm inGainesville. I really appreciate the sacrifices that hehas made to offer my family a better life, even though Iknow that sometimes he really wants to go home. I thinkthat my opportunities in life to meet people from allwalks of life and to see the good and the bad aspects ofmany different countries has helped me develop into avery open-minded person. Although my dad (who is myfirst influence to foreigners) is from a relativelywealthy nation, I appreciate and really admire thepeople who are raised in third or second world countrieswho pretty much aren't guarenteed the rights to a brightfuture and education like we are in the U.S., yet theywake up every day knowing that they're going to makesomething great of themselves. They come here and battlethe cultural and language barriers (and sometimes put upwith a great deal of prejudice), educate themselves, andreally appreciate what we take for granted. Thinking ofthings is this way has helped me encourage myself thatanyone can be successful in anything that they do, nomatter how impossible it may seem. My major ispolitical science and I'm hoping to do pre-law at UF andthen go to law school either at UF or a higher-rankinginstitution. That's about it for me. I can't wait toread everyone elses' posts! ~Anne
